For many of us, this Memorial Day will be filled with family, friends, sunshine, the beach, and backyard barbecues. But for the families and friends who have lost loved ones as they were serving this great country we live in, it is a day of remembrance, sadness, and tears.
I had a chance to visit Washington DC a year and a half ago. Our trip was filled with friends, food (lots of food), lots of walking, history, museums, and memorials. By far, the most memorable and surreal memorial we visited was Arlington Cemetery. To see the hundreds and hundreds of white headstones was just mind-blowing and sad. While we were there, we were able to watch the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. If you've never witnessed this before, I would highly recommend that you add it to your bucket list!
As I sat waiting for the ceremony to begin, I couldn't help but think of all of the families who had a loved one who was represented there. The Unknown Soldier. It was completely silent. Except for the clicking of the shoes as the soldier guarding the tomb walked back and forth in honor of his fallen brother. They never take a break. There is always someone on guard no matter the weather or circumstance. It was an truly an honor to watch.
So as we are celebrating a day off work and a day of celebrating with our friends and family, let's take a moment to remember those that made it possible for us to live in this great country and enjoy the freedoms that we have.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart! May we never forget!
I just love this little family!!! I shot their engagement pictures, their daughter Kennedy's first Halloween pictures, their family pictures, and now they are expecting number two. Well, if I must confess, it took me awhile to get this blog posted, so Mr. Brody Harrison is already 2 months old!!!
I always love photographing this family. I was there when Britt was born, so it's crazy to think that him and Kaylee are now making their own family and are on baby number 2!
Of course getting Britt to smile during this session was a challenge as always, and Kaylee was ready to beat him!! But we had some laughs and I love the way these images turned out! And can we talk about the lighting?! It was amazing that day!!
And we can't leave out little Miss Kennedy. We had to do some bribing, but she was a trooper and played along. She is just the cutest little princess there ever was and she's certainly enjoying her new role as big sister.
I'm so happy for this little extended family of mine and I can't wait to watch their kids grow up!

As a photographer, you always hope to be able to connect with your clients and bring out their true personalities. Well I hit the jackpot with Nick and Stephanie! They were probably one of the most enjoyable and fun couples that I have ever photographed. I've known Stephanie for pretty much her whole life. I didn't meet Nick until the day of the shoot, and I felt like I'd known him forever! Let's just say that I had no trouble breaking them out of their shells!!!
There is no question that these two love each other and just enjoy being together and spending time with each other. We laughed so much during their session that my cheeks hurt! Their family joked that it was the Stephanie and Nick show. I was thankful that I had my camera ready for those moments where they were just being their goofy selves and I was able to capture it forever!
I'm so happy for these two and I can't wait to celebrate their wedding with them. I know they are going to have a wonderful, fun-filled marriage and I'm glad I was able to be a small part of that. Nick and Stephanie, I wish you the best now and forever!!

I hope to hear from you. Please feel free to share this post!
I had the privilege to witness the sweet, surprise proposal of my nephew Lee to his girlfriend Renee. I was so honored and happy to be a part of their special moment and I was so glad that I was able to capture their memories for them. To say that she was surprised was an understatement!!
I loved watching them interact. It's very obvious how much they love each other and I'm so happy for the both of them. I look forward to watching them start this new chapter of their lives together as they become man and wife. So, good for you Lee, for finding such a great girl and for making the proposal such a memorable one. I love you both and I'm super excited for you two!

When your nephew calls you and asks if you can keep a secret, you hold your breath in anticipation!! He asked I would take some pictures of him and his girlfriend. I of course said YES! We schedule the date, pick the location, and they choose their outfits. We had a great time doing their shoot. There was lots of laughter, yelling at the dogs and being crazy so they would look at me!
About a half hour into the shoot, they go for an outfit change! What she thought was simply a photo shoot with them and the dogs, was actually a surprise proposal!!! To say that she was surprised was an understatement. Check back next week at this time for the proposal part of the shoot and the images to go with it! You won't want to miss it!
